Third Graders from Iron Springs Elementary participated in Farm Field Day last week at the Diamond Z Arena. They enjoyed learning about different farms found in Iron County, different livestock and how to run a farm. Some of the highlights were:
The Cow Station where they learned about all the different products that we get from a cow, including meat, dairy and some non-food. They were able to pet a cow.
The Sheep Station gave them the opportunity to learn about the different types, ages and names of sheep and what we get from them.
They Utah State Extension Office taught about the different plants and vegetables you find on a farm and the 4-H program shared how they can get involved in their programs offered in Cedar City.
Learning about noxious weeds, soil, alfalfa/hay and bee keeping were also among the favorites.
