DARE Graduation

For ten weeks Fifth Graders at Iron Springs Elementary spent a portion of their Friday mornings with Cedar City Police Officer Banz participating in the DARE program.  During this time they were taught good decision making skills that will allow them to live healthy and safe lives including refusal skills, communication skills and positive things they can do in their community and schools.  Each student then wrote an essay about the things that they learned. Officer Banz read through each essay and chose a winner.  This past week a DARE Graduation was held where the essay winner, Madison Cowley, read her essay, Officer Banz shared a few things  and he and teachers presented certificates with a small gift bag and T-shirt to all the Fifth graders who participated and completed the program.    This year they had the opportunity to have Dude Benson, who started the DARE Program in Cedar City, present and share a few of his thoughts.
